(7) And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
How important this verse is to the central purpose of the book, being about Christ, what He has accomplished, and the blessing and consequences of such. This is after all “the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him” (“him” being Jesus). Here, in union with the subject of the book, we see God giving him a scroll, which can only be given to him. Jesus is the only one who can reveal the contents of the scroll, we will see why in verse 9. For comments on “the right hand” see 5:1.
